Filthy Pedro presents: Brighton Autumn Antifolk

Filthy Pedro presents a free entry antifolk special featuring acts from Brighton, New York and London on Sat 21st September at The Bees Mouth in Brighton and Hove.

What better way to celebrate Autumn than getting your beak on with a night of lo-fi and antifolk in a dark cellar in Brighton (well, Hove actually)?

Lance Romance, who now also plays under the moniker MILF City, is flying in from Brooklyn to showcase his latest music. Lance has been a staple of the New York music scene for over a decade, making a name for himself with great songwriting and a style all of his own. When not playing, he can often be found sound engineering. We first met when he was controlling the sound when I played at the Sidewalk Cafe in New York.

I (Filthy Pedro that is) will be returning with the new look Carthaginians to play again in my adopted city. Joining Oliver Fist and Gazic Stan will be new band member Jay.

Brighton’s The Stayaways return with more sublime anti-pop edge, now joined by new band member Sean Stubbo on bass.

Melt Plastic Group, a lo-fi hotpot of rhythmic dreams, hypnotic beats with a large pinch of psychedelia perform their debut gig. This new band was formed by front-man Will Robinson, formerly the brains behind London’s Sunlight Service Group. Featuring Jessica Lazzeri on bass and Gazic Stan on drums.

Ulsterman Larry Pickleman needs no introduction, and has decided to pick up his guitar again recently. For those who have not seen him before, this is the bastard child of downtown Belfast and antifolk.

London’s Felix Hunt has long been involved in the scene, so I’m looking forward to seeing his solo work for the first time. Felix will opening the night.

The compère for the evening will be Mike Medley, the father of our much missed and legendary friend Jack.
